Pittsburgh Penguins (2) vs Ottawa Senators (7)

PITTSBURGH WINS SERIES, 4-0

Game Recaps

Game 1:

Gary Roberts opened the scoring at 1:08 of the first frame, and the Pittsburgh Penguins rolled to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Ottawa Senators Wednesday in Game One.

Petr Sykora and Evgeni Malkin scored for the Pens before Roberts potted his second of the night with 1:35 left in the game.

Marc-Andre Fleury got off to a good start this playoff season, with his first playoff shutout.  The 41 year-old Roberts upstaged the likes of Sid Crosby, who was held pointless. For the Pens, the depth is welcome.

For Ottawa Coach Bryan Murray the results were obvious.

"Obviously we got outplayed," said Murray, after the Pens outshot his club 35-26. "We didn't get a lot of scoring chances."

PIT leads 1-0

Game 2:

Ryan Malone scored the game winner for Pittsburgh with 1:02 left in the third period on the power play after Ottawa's Martin Lapointe was sent off for high-sticking Jarko Ruutu.

The goal squelched a fine comeback by the Senators, who rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game on goals by Shean Donovan, Cory Stillman and Cody Bass.

Petr Sykora also scored two goals for Pittsburgh, who outshot Ottawa by a whopping 54-30.

Sergei Gonchar also scored for Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh leads 2-0

Game 3:

Sidney Crosby, Jordan Staal and Marian Hossa scored in the third period to lift Pittsburgh to a 4-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Monday night. The Penguins, who lost in five games to the Sens last season, are on the brink of exacting revenge, leading the series 3-0.

Ottawa rookie Nick Foligno scored at 1:11 of the second to give Ottawa the lead, but Maxime Talbot of the Pens converted a Marian Hossa feed at 5:39 to tie it at one apiece.

Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 32 of 33 shots; Martin Gerber, 34 of 38.

Pittsburgh leads 3-0

Game 4:

Evgeni Malkin and Jarko Ruutu scored second-period goals, as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Ottawa Senators Wednesday night to complete a four-game sweep of their first-round series.

Marc-Andre Fleury made 21 saves for Pittsburgh, which got its first sweep in 16 years and its first playoff series win since 2001.

Cory Stillman scored for Ottawa.

The Penguins exacted revenge for last spring's playoffs, when they were knocked out in five games by the Senators.

Martin Gerber stopped 31 of 33 shots.
