Game 6:

MAY 5, 2008 -- DALLAS -- After 129:08 of hockey, in the fourth overtime, Brendan Morrow, an emerging Conn Smythe Trophy candidate, scored his seventh goal of the postseason to eliminate the San Jose Sharks and send the Dallas Stars to their first conference final since their 2000 Western Conference title.

Brian Campbell, who had played 56:23 during the marathon game, was called for tripping Loui Eriksson at 8:14 of the fatigue-filled fourth overtime, which set the stage for Stephane Robidas' shot being redirected by Morrow past Evgeni Nabokov for the winner.

The game was a modern classic, featuring multiple big saves in overtime by Dallas' Marty Turco and San Jose's Nabokov.  Nabokov stopped 53 of 55 Dallas shots; Turco, 61 of 62 San Jose shots.

Thomas Plihal and Patrick Marleau led the Sharks with eight shots on goal apiece.  The Stars' Mike Ribiero and Brad Richards each had nine.

The Sharks were attempting to come all the way back from a 3-0 series deficit.

The Stars will face the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference Final beginning Thursday.

DALLAS WINS 4-2

Game 5:

MAY 2, 2008 -- SAN JOSE -- Shark Joe Pavelski stole the puck from Antii Miettinen of the Stars and rifled a wrist shot over Marty Turco's glove to the roof of the net at 1:05 of overtime, giving the Sharks a 3-2 comeback victory Friday night.  San Jose staved off elimination for the second game in a row, closing Dallas' series lead to 3-2. 

Pavelski's fifth postseason goal was unassisted.

San Jose trailed 2-0 after two periods and threw caution to the wind heading into the third period with their season on the line.

"We said, 'Let's go out and throw out everything we have in the third period,"' Roenick said.

Roenick made good on the Sharks' pledge to themselves as he sent a long pass to defenseman Brian Campbell, who, with the score 2-1 in favor of Dallas, broke in on Turco and tied the game at 11:07 of the third to send it to overtime.

Earlier in the third, Milan Michalek--who vowed to have a better round two than round one, in which he was scoreless--converted a Joe Thornton pass for San Jose's first goal.  It was Michalek's fourth goal in five games.

Jere Lehtinen and Brendan Morrow scored second period goals for Dallas to give them a 2-0 lead.  Morrow had two more goals disallowed during the game, on which San Jose capitalized.

As for the newly competitive series, which started with a 3-0 Dallas lead, Shark Coach Ron Wilson said, ""I think there's a little bit of doubt in their mind."

The Stars outshot the Sharks 26-22.

Game 4:

APRIL 30, 2008 -- DALLAS -- Patrick Marleau scored a shorthanded goal at 9:19 of the second period to draw the San Jose Sharks even at one and Milan Michalek scored the game winner as San Jose stayed alive with a 2-1 win at American Airlines Center Wednesday night.

Michalek's goal came at 16:34 of the third period. The Sharks ot their fifth power play of the game early in the third period when Mike Modano drew a delay of game penalty for knocking a puck into the stands. Joe Thornton, who then passed the puck through the legs of Jonathan Cheechoo and onto Michalek's stick.

Taking advantage of a giveaway by Shark Devin Setoguchi, the Stars Jere Lehtinen scored his third goal of the postseason for the Stars at 5:25 of the second to open the scoring before Marleau evened it.

San Jose was 1-6 on the power play, Dallas 0-3.

Evgeni Nabokov made 17 saves while Marty Turco made 22 saves for the Stars in defeat.

Game 3:

APRIL 29, 2008 -- DALLAS -- At 4:37 of overtime, Mattias Norstrom fired a shot off of San Jose's Jeremy Roenick that beat Evgen Nabokov high in the net. The Dallas Stars now lead 3-0 and can sweep the Sharks at home Wednesday night.

Patrick Marleau gave San Jose a 1-0 lead with a shorthanded breakaway goal at 19:25 of the opening period.

Sergei Zubov, playing in just his second game after missing more than three months with various injuries, tied it at :47 of the third period during a 5-on-3 power play.

Dallas outshot San Jose 29-20. Evgeni Nabokov made 27 saves, Marty Turco, 19.

Nabokov gave the Sharks an opportunity to win when he stopped Nick Hagman on a penalty shot at 10:50 of the third.

Dallas leads 3-0

Game 2:

APRIL 27, 2008 -- SAN JOSE -- Mike Modano scored the game winner on the power play at 3:39 of the third period to give the Dallas Stars a commanding 2-0 lead in a series that is turning into a rout.

Trailing 2-1 at the top of the third period, Brad Richards took advantage of a Shark turnover in the defensive zone, and put a wrist shot over Evgeni Nabokov's right shoulder to even the game at two.

San Jose was 1-5 on the power play, Dallas, 1-3.  The Stars had to get themselves out of early penalty trouble in the first period, killing penalties to Nick Grossman, Marty Turco and Sergei Zubov, who returned to action for the first time since January, and added assist on Modano's winner.

Marty Turco turned away 29 shots. 

The Stars are up 2-0 for the second time in as many series.  They beat the Ducks, 4-2 after building a 2-0 series lead on the road, which is exactly how it's gone in San Jose.

Game 1:

APRIL 25, 2008 -- SAN JOSE -- Brendan Morrow's second goal of the night at 4:39 of overtime beat the Stars, 3-2 and gave Dallas a 1-0 series win on the road at HP Pavilion.

Morrow's five goals and continued good play with Mike Ribiero and Jere Lehtinen on Dallas' top line has been one of the top stories of the playoffs. The three have combined for 26 points in eight playoff games, and have thwarted the efforts of Sammy Pahlsson's checking line as well as Mike Grier's in game one.

San Jose jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Milan Michalek's goal at 4:50 of the second period. Michalek, who was shut out of the first round, vowed to lift his game, and did in game one.

Mike Modano scored at 6:06 of the second and Morrow scored at 9:09 to give Dallas a 2-1 lead.

Jon Cheechoo scored his fourth of the postseason at 16:58 of the third to force overtime.
