Elite Training Facility CARSON, CA -- AUG 28, 2007 -- If you've ever wondered where NHLers like to train, look no further than the west coast, where Athletes Performance operates one of the most advanced programs in the world in Tempe, Arizona and Carson, California.
NHL stars and draftees love AP because of its world-class operations, promising a 100% ethical, private training experience in a 7,400 square foot state-of-the-art training center. Notables AP attendees such as Maxim Afinogenov, Nikolai Khabibulin, Chris Drury, Richard Park, Noah Clarke and Mathieu Schneider top a list of NHLers too numerous to mention here. AP receives rave reviews from its hockey guys. "Second to none in the industry," says Drury. "If you want to be the best you should train with the best." Tennis courts, basketball courts, cycling velodrome, tennis stadium and practice courts, baseball and softball fields, the aforementioned Home Depot Center and its 27,000 seat soccer pitch, plus eleven training fields (ten grass and one "Field Turf") make AP a sprawling complex. "(AP's) Commitment to excellence and service is tremendous," says Richard Park of the Islanders. "As an athlete who has trained here for 5 years I can positively say that great strides are made every year for the benefit of athletes in every area of our field. There is no better place to come if you want to take your training to the next level." The facility also serves as home and training center for the U.S. Tennis Association, U.S. Soccer Federation, U.S. Cycling Federation and U.S.A. Track & Field. Non-hockey luminaries such as Nomar Garciaparra, Vernon Wells, Trace Armstrong, Roy Williams, Levi Jones and Steve Francis have also attended programs at the facility with great success. Be on the lookout if you go to see David Beckham play soccer at the Home Depot Center. You might run into a George Parros or two. At the Carson facility, Parros met with Hockeytalk to discuss his training regimen, the NHL and of course, the Stanley Cup Champion Ducks.
