Drew Shore

SEPTEMBER 9, 2008 -- American Drew Shore is one of the top prospects for next year’s NHL Entry Draft. According to International Scouting Services, Shore is currently ranked No. 13 on its list of Top 15 prospects for the 2009 draft. The 17-year-old Colorado native, who has verbally committed to the University of Denver for 2009, is coming off a year in which he tallied 38 points in 54 games for the U.S. Under-17 team. His 38 points were second only to Jeremy Morin, another top NHL draft prospect.

Shore’s greatest asset is his size. At 6’2” and 190 pounds, he already possesses an NHL-type build. Coupled with his willingness to work down low, Shore has power forward potential. Despite being an average skater and having to work for every step, he displays good hustle and will work diligently in all three zones, as evident by his defensive awareness and scrappy play along the boards.

Offensively, Shore demonstrates good strength on the puck, owns astute vision and also enjoys a quality distribution game. His ability to produce precision passes in transition and find the seams in the attacking zone make him a constant offensive threat, particularly on the power play. The fact that Shore led the team in assists (25) last season is evident of this.
