DALLAS STARS SIGN
RIBEIRO TO FIVE-YEAR DEAL

Dallas’ Leading Scorer Signs Through 2012-2013

JANUARY 7, 2008 -- FRISCO, Tex. -- The Dallas Stars announced tonight that the club has signed center Mike Ribeiro to a five-year contract extension worth $25 million ($5 million per year) through the 2012-2013 season. Ribeiro’s current contract was set to expire at the conclusion of the 2007-08 season.

“Mike has made a big impact on our hockey club the past two seasons and we are very happy to have him under contract,” said Co-General Manager Brett Hull. “He makes things happen on the ice and will only continue to grow as a player.

"We saw the money that was thrown around this past summer, and to get a player of his caliber under contract for the next five years bodes well for our team. This guy is skilled and has increased his conditioning season by season. I truly believe he has only scratched the surface in his potential and we're still going to see a lot from both him and Brenden."
